Frequently Asked Questions
How big are the rapids?
The rapids on the whitewater stretch of the Snake River vary depending on time of year and river flows. During the Summer months this stretch of river is Class I,II and III. Rapid class is based on a danger/consequence scale from I to V with class V (5) having the most danger. Class III is a great, safe and fun level of whitewater for most people who don't have prior whitewater experience. Highwater, during early season run-off, varies year to year due to the Snake River being a snowmelt fed & dammed river. Highwater season can be late May through early to late June. During these times when the river goes above a certain water flow some rapids can become class IV. Your knowledgable and experienced guide will answer any questions and ensure a safe trip down the river!
